Over eight years and well over 1,000 strips, Westward has grown in both complexity and quality, often inviting the reader to join its characters in speculation as they stretched the boundaries of space and time. Published January 2010 – June 2010. Westward arrives at its first planet on the eve of an important anniversary, but in the face of unsettling discoveries, victory becomes tragedy and exploration becomes a struggle for survival.
Published June 2010 – June 2011. Westward is stopped mid-journey by a weird alien artifact. While the crew investigates, Newspaperman Lamont Townsend struggles with demons of a past that he didn’t know he had.
Published June 2011 – November 2011. In a small town in the American Southwest, a teenage girl with unusual qualities faces the twin dilemmas of young love and the apocalypse. But who is she, and how is she connected to our crew of space explorers?
November 2011 – August 2012. History is in the making as Westward plants its first colony in a distant solar system. But tensions mount as conspiracies unravel, loyalty is tested and our heroes are faced with their gravest danger yet.
August 2012 – December 2012. Phobos lies in a coma and the crew of Westward prepares to make an Escherspace jump toward home without his help. Tensions rise as secrets come to life and agendas crash on a crippled space ship deep in space, out of time and haunted by ghosts of the past.
Finding themselves unable to return to earth, the crew of Westward sets course for Mars. There they begin to discover how central the ancient red planet–and Westward itself–are to the strange circumstances befalling humanity.
Having faked their own deaths to keep their second mission a secret, the crew of Westward endeavors to discover the fate of a lost colony sent not only deep into space, but deep into time as well.
On a planet almost entirely covered by water, the Westward crew visits a colony of humans planted 550 years in the past. When the secrets of Westward become entangled with the secrets of the colonists, the young cadets must try to prevent catastrophe.
