Throughout the story of Westward, newspaperman Lamont Townsend has been attempting to piece together the shards of his fragmented life without much success. Each new revelation has come with more questions as he realizes that his thirty-something years have been a patchwork of erased and rewritten memories, manipulated by the Scientific Society. His one point of reference has been his marriage to Elizabeth, who is now–and perhaps always was–a member of the Scientific Society who does not remember him.     Of course it could be entirely coincidence that Lamont’s hair in panel one and Lazarus’s hair in panel 5 are nearly identical.
    So is Elizabeth the mother, or Anka?
