Chaos. Madness. Acceptance.

She finally got the belt, ladies and gentlemen!

Oh, and it looks like the countdown has resumed. Where do you think Alice is coming from right now? What is she thinking? -e

6 Comments:

Not to be a nitpicker, but wouldn't there be blood on the belt? Or am I supposed to be so happy about her finally getting it that I shouldn't care?
I can see taking the gun, but why the belt? With her skinny waist, it couldn't possibly fit her.
James, she's talking to a ghost while a five million year old space ship manned by ectoplasmic Lovecraftian Bowzers from another dimension is crashing to earth in perfect sync with a talking skull. And you're nitpicking about wardrobe?
Why the belt? Because she can't dish out Purgatory justice unless she's dressed for the part. What's the point in saving the world if you don't have a good sense of style when you're doing it?

Plus, that belt buckle might deflect a laser or two when the octo-torti start firing with their blasters...or whatever it is they use when they go to war.
They use mind-controlled doctors, as we well know. :P

And it's all about suspension of disbelief, I think, good Mr. Toman. This is science fiction, so we are prepared to accept spaceships and other dimensions and, occasionally, even ghosts. In addition, we don't really know how any of these things would work, so it can be harder to critique inconsistencies. Belts, on the other hand, are something it is easier to have real-life experience with. And really, as your fans, it's pretty much our duty to latch onto small inconsistencies and discuss them at length, so gotta find something!

My hypothesis: Sam stole that belt earlier from some kid who was playing Cowboy. Possibly along with candy. Thus, it was already fitted to someone with a slimmer build.

What's it going to be like? What do octotorti use to go to war, when they aren't adrift for a bajillion years and sort-of-dead? Chaos and madness might hint at mind-control on a vaster scale: perhaps driving the entire population of Earth into self-destructive insanity, instead of just one mild-mannered surgeon.

Or perhaps when at full power, the octotorti just cause Epiphany events. O_O

It'd be interesting to know whether this is an alternate-universe version of the same Artefact the Westward ran into, or whether there's an entire octotorti fleet flying around out there, wiping out all intelligent life.

(Which reminds me -- when mentioning Star Control II a few days ago, I really should have compared our turtles to the Ur-Quan Kor-Ah. Also, everyone should go play that game right now.)
He made a swing through Texas and bought it. I know they have belts similar to that. Alice needs a thick belt to hold her weapons not her pants up.
