Corporate America's Worst-Kept Secret

Welcome to a new week of Westward! This week, the interlude continues as we pull the curtains back on the little-known history of Amila Santana. It's safe to assume that this flashback is picking up directly after the last brief glimpse we saw of her past, when the true identity of Ed Spratt was revealed. -e

The 'Previous Comment' thumbnail looks like the good doctor is thinking "booooobies".
I definitely picking up a "romantic" vibe between Santana and Phobos or at least one indicating a very close connection.
It's that long-neck thing that draws them together.
You're right, John. Hadn't noticed that before.
Yep. Amila has an unusually long neck. There's a vague continuity reason for that, but nobody is likely to ever know what it is.
Could Amila's neck secret be that it is to help visually distinguish her from the similarly featured Anka?
Yeah, good luck with that. Anka has an eye patch now, so hopefully I won't have to resort to giving Amila a handlebar mustache.
So you are promising that the eye patch is immutable?

It's so cruel to say there's a reason then say we won't know it. Us OCD's can't handle that well.
We can't.
We can't.
We can't.
We can't.

We can't.
We can't.

Really,
We can't.
The eye patch is for realz.

Westward is the beginning of a bigger story about fate and redemption and being human. There will be other characters in other places and times, but in them you'll see glimpses of themes and motifs we're exploring now, because it's all one big picture. There are lots of clues to these connections along the way, some obvious, some less so.

All assuming I don't get hit by a bus or something.
"Be patient" is much better than "nobody is likely to ever know what it is".
