Whit is, of course, referencing events that took place not long ago in this episode. You'll recall that George Neil "advised" Whit not to get the Westward crew mixed up in Jack's disappearance. By taking this course of action, she's rather dangerously defied him. No doubt this is the sort of thing that happens when women read books and such. -e
