Our first encounter with Francis Carter, Westward's enigmatic captain. He's on the Command Deck at the very top of Westward, looking out over the ship. A.U., in case you were wondering, stands for Astronomical Unit, a span equivalent to the distance between the earth and its sun. In other words, Westward has traveled over the course of three months a safe distance outside our solar system's heliosphere. -e
